Krista Ramsey Introduction Activity

     The column I read by Krista Ramsey was titled "Locking into the Magic of Legos". This short column was about, you guessed it, Legos. It described how Legos are a wonderful way for your kid to express creativity and learn essential skills and necessities needed in the real world such as trial and error. During her column, she says "And out of all those wonderful things that adults want kids to master but never let them learn on their own – process, trial-and-error, deduction, elimination – chaos will turn to order. Meanwhile, a work ethic is built in: If you want to play with the toy, you have to make it first." This quote shows the positive significance of Legos. This quote shows the reader that when she said that Legos have a positive effect on your kid, she meant it and really went in to depth on what exactly she means by "Positive Impact". Also, the syntax of this quote is interesting because it uses a lot of interesting symbols to help better express her point such as the dash and the colon. Her writing style is casual, but serious enough to hold a meaning and a legitimate opinion. She also doesn't use too much figurative language to keep it informative and brief. The column was full of fact and left little room for mistakes and trivial information. I believe this style of Krista is most effective when used to write an informative and persuasive article or piece of writing. During the beginning of her column, she says At 5 p.m. on the first Tuesday of every month, a long line of small- to medium-sized children snakes along the main concourse of Kenwood Towne Centre." This shows that she is factual and has researched her topic, inducing a less trivial and more factual style as I said earlier.

1. How did you get a job at "Cincinnati.com"? Are there any educational prerequisites?
2. Do you always have this style? Or do you have multiple styles that vary depending on the column?
3. Do you enjoy writing and was it your first career choice?
